SUPER MAN!!! He takes his time at every appointment to listen to your concerns and answers every question. His current office on Stone Oak is wonderfully staffed. They answer your questions and are quick to return phone calls. Great aftercare program and support meetings! His surgical competence is AWESOME, his bedside manner is TOPS!! I think I have a crush on my surgeon!! LOL

I'm 1-1/2 months into my pre op diet for Gastric By Pass.So far my Surgeon's office has been great. They have answered any questions I had.The Seminar wasn't that great. The computer they were using didn't didn't work. And I have only talked to Dr.Patel once ( about 5 minutes). The Nutritional Lady has been great.I e-mail her with any questions I have.I investigated him on-line.He seems to have great Feed back. The only Draw back, would have liked to been able to see a better seminar after sitting in wating room for several hrs.

I really like Dr Rodriguez but right before surgery they changed hospitals, then 2 months post-op I get a letter saying he is no longer doing WLS. Now I have to find someone else for my follow-up care. When I started having all the problems with my Band I went to Dr Patel because 2 of the nurses at work used him and said god things about him.

My first impression of Dr. Patel was that he wasn't one of those uptight doctors, he was very welcoming, funny, but to the point about why weight lose surgery would be beneficial to those of us who are overweight. I felt very comfortable with him. He also spoke on my level, not all doctor talk. Dr. Patel's staff is also amazing!!! The staff is always there to help if and when you might need it. LOVE them!!! Dr. Patel has a support group meeting once a month and they are amazing! I feel that I learn a lot from all who attend. I have only positive things to say about Dr. Patel and his staff, he and his staff are very up front with anything that needs to be addressed. I'm very glad that I met Dr. Patel and his staff. I would still be on that horrible roller coaster ride I f I...

Dr. Patel is absolutely awesome. I feel so comfortable around him. He is very thorough and informative, as is his entire staff. My hubby says I'm crushin' on him. I think hubby may be right!!! Hospital stay was super! Love, love, love, all those nurses.

Pre-surgically I found Dr. Patel to be direct and not much for small talk. He is confident and once you have decided proceedes with few words. I had some post surgery complications, I found him to be a really good communicator about expectations and his ability to describe medical jargon in common English with me and my family was exceptional. I also found him to be really sensitive to the spiritual side of healing which is largely missing in todays hospital settings. A year later I have had some issues with adhesions and again he has dealt with the issues in short order. The biggest surprise was his willingness to assist with coordination of care which might or might not be related to the bypass surgery. On those occassions when called by the emergency rooms where... [Click here for more] I have been a patient he has always called back and assisted with coordination of care. The biggest asset for me is the ability to communicate with him and his office staff via email, and the ability to participate in a support group set up for his post op patients which elminates all the conflicting advise found out there between doctors. Getting through the pre-op process was cumbersum and required dedicated follow up on my part to get the dates set..

My first impression was that he seemed like a good surgeon and that I would be taken care of and he made me feel like his office and staff were very caring. Over time, my impression changed though because every single time I called the office with a question or concern, noone ever answers the phone. The office manager never returned my phone call or email. It's hard to find answers to simple questions like: can i take anything for my headache since we are just a few days away from surgery? Can I please get info about the support group so that I can attend one prior to surgery? I met once with the surgeron, which was when they were supposed to have a seminar. That didn't happen. He came by my bed to sign something the day of surgery but never spoke a word to me. The day after surgery... [Click here for more] he came by for less than 5 minutes. He's nice but in my opinion, this is truly just a business deal to him. This is a major surgery and my experience felt more like I'd driven thru a fast food drive thru. Never spoke about aftercare. Wish I'd changed surgeons, even if it meant that I'd have had to wait until after the new year. The website testimonials said that he called after surgery and I never received a call. I was told that I'd receive a call 1 time 24 hours after leaving the hospital, then after another 48 hours, I'd get a call again. No one ever called. Of course, this was my experience and I'm not saying that everyone will have it the same.

I found Dr. Patel to be straightforward and to the point. His office staff, though, leaves a lot to be desired. That is why I left Dr. P.

My first impression of Dr. Patel was that he was a people-person and very down-to-earth. He truly wanted to help everyone in that room (seminar), but was also realistic that this surgery wasn't a miracle cure and wouldn't work for everyone. In fact, a percentage of us attending would never make it through the insurance clearance for varying reasons - but that trying was worth everything. So...after 4 years of research and trepidation, here I am trying. I don't have a date yet, but hopefully soon. I'll let you know more about what I think down the road.
I was impress with his seeming dedication and enthusium. Staff very helpful, but difficult to get information
